Free Dev Automation Pack
n8n workflows, prompts, GitHub Actions, repo templates and the Playbook PDF.

Who it's for
- You run n8n (self-hosted or Cloud) and want small, working examples of AI steps that handle bad model output.
- You want a GitHub Actions setup for CI, an AI pull request review and release notes you can read and adapt.
- You want to see how I build automations before you buy anything.
Not for you if you have never opened n8n: the workflows assume you can import a file and create a credential.
What's inside
This is the free sample of how I build automations. The 4 n8n workflows are an AI planning agent (webhook in, plan as JSON out), a prompt evaluator, a content generator that reads and writes a Google Sheet, and an error alert for Slack or email. Every workflow that calls a model has a connected path for output the model gets wrong.
The 18 prompts cover writing, code and automation, as Markdown pages and as JSON. The 3 GitHub Actions workflows are CI for Node.js projects, an AI pull request review and release notes on tag push. The 5 repo templates are a pull request template, a feature spec, a bug report, an architecture decision record and a release checklist. The Automation Playbook PDF is included.
It replaces the old automation pack zip from January 2026 completely.

Setup
Requirements
- n8n 2.x, self-hosted or n8n Cloud, for the workflows (node versions present in n8n 2.0.0 to 2.41.5)
- An OpenAI API key for the AI steps (Anthropic or Google Gemini after swapping one node); model calls are billed to your key
- Workflow 03: a Google account and a Google Sheet; workflow 04: a Slack app or an SMTP server
- A GitHub repository for the Actions; an Anthropic or OpenAI key as a repository secret for the AI review
- Any LLM chat tool for the prompts; a PDF viewer for the playbook
The fastest first result is the planning agent:
- In n8n, create an OpenAI credential and a Header Auth credential for the webhook key (the pack's
docs/credentials.mdhas the details). - Import
workflows/01-ai-planning-agent.json, open the Receive task node and click Listen for test event. - Send the sample task from
samples/01-task.jsonto the test URL withcurl. - You get back JSON with an analysis, a plan of 3 to 7 steps and the next actions.
- Import the error-alert workflow and set it as the error workflow of the planning agent, so failures reach you.

Questions
When can I download it?
When its last checks are done: recording the prompt runs with a real API key, importing and running the workflows in a live n8n instance, and running the GitHub Actions on a test repository. I haven't set a date. Leave your email above and I'll tell you when it's ready. The Automation Playbook is free to download now.
Do I need n8n Cloud?
No. The workflows use node versions that exist in every n8n release from 2.0.0 to 2.41.5, self-hosted or Cloud.
Which AI provider does it use?
OpenAI by default. Anthropic or Google Gemini work after you swap one node; model calls are billed to your own key.
Can I use it for client work?
Yes. You can use and change the workflows, prompts and templates in your own and your clients' projects. Please don't re-host or resell the pack itself; send people to this page instead.
