Cursor / VS Code Kit

Settings, AI rules, snippets, tasks and debug configs for Cursor and VS Code, per stack.

Cursor / VS Code Kit

Who it's for

  • You work in VS Code or Cursor on TypeScript/Next.js, Python or Salesforce DX projects and set up every new repository by hand.
  • You want Cursor rules and AGENTS.md instructions that match how the project is actually built and tested.
  • You want debug configurations that work the first time, including the Apex Replay Debugger.

Not for you if you use another editor, or if your team already shares a maintained workspace configuration.

What's inside

An explained editor setup for three stacks. Each stack gets workspace settings with a comment on every setting, recommended extensions, tasks, debug configurations, snippets and Cursor rules, plus AGENTS.md and Copilot instruction templates for other AI tools.

  • Settings profiles: a shared base plus TypeScript/Next.js, Python and Salesforce profiles.
  • Cursor rules: general coding, TypeScript, React/Next.js, Python, Apex, LWC, testing, security, docs writing and n8n workflows.
  • Snippets for TypeScript, TSX, Python, Apex, LWC JavaScript and Markdown.
  • Tasks and debug configurations per stack: lint, test, build and dev; Salesforce deploy, retrieve and Apex tests; Next.js server and client debugging, pytest and the Apex Replay Debugger.
  • An installer that copies one stack into a repository, shows what it would do first and never changes a file you already have unless you pass --force (then it keeps a .bak copy), plus guides that explain every setting.

Setup

Requirements

  • VS Code 1.110 or newer, or a Cursor release built on VS Code 1.110 or newer (tested with VS Code 1.139.0 and 1.140.0)
  • Node.js 22 or newer only for the optional installer and tests (no dependencies)
  • Per stack: Node.js for TypeScript projects; Python 3.10+; Salesforce CLI and a Java JDK 11+ for Salesforce DX
  1. Unzip and run the offline checks: cd cursor-vscode-kit && npm test.
  2. Preview what the installer would add: node scripts/install.mjs --stack typescript-next --target ~/code/my-app --dry-run (or python, or salesforce).
  3. Install by running the same command without --dry-run.
  4. Open the repository in VS Code or Cursor, trust the workspace and install the recommended extensions when asked.
  5. Save a file and it is formatted; Run Task lists the kit's tasks and Run and Debug lists the debug configurations.

Time to first result: about 5 minutes.

Tested with

Clean-install test passed on 2026-10-01 (darwin-arm64, node 22.23.2, npm 10.9.8): extract, base, node, docs, acceptance. No network access was used.

FAQ

Questions

When can I buy it?

When the last checks are done: a live check in Cursor, real debug sessions and the remaining screenshots. The offline tests and the clean-install check already pass. I haven't set a date; leave your email above and I'll tell you when it's on sale.

Which editor versions does it need?

VS Code 1.110 or newer, or a Cursor release built on VS Code 1.110 or newer. It was tested with VS Code 1.139.0 and 1.140.0.

Does it work in Cursor and VS Code at the same time?

Yes. The settings, tasks, snippets and debug configurations are standard VS Code files that Cursor reads too. The Cursor rules are only used by Cursor; AGENTS.md and the Copilot instructions cover other AI tools.

How do updates work?

New versions go to your Gumroad library; download them from there. Changes are listed in the CHANGELOG inside the zip.

Can I use it for client work?

Yes, in unlimited personal and commercial projects, including client repositories. You can't resell or share the kit itself.
